Room Painting… ugh!

by RadMan on Aug.11, 2010, under Picture

Ya so, a little while ago we decided it was high time (like 3 years now) that we finally paint the master bedroom. There were 4 different wall colours from the previous owners, and frankly not only did it look ridiculous, but one of the colours just about made my eyes bleed. What the hell were they thinking. I’ll tell ‘ya, THEY WEREN’T!

Anyhoo, here are a series of shots that show the stages we went through:

A. Room is prepped but no paint has hit the walls yet, notice the different colour walls (Pink, Green, Beige and Pink-tinted White)
B. Primer coat/coats have been put on the walls. The pink walls required 2 coats of primer… ugh!
C. Now you’re seeing the final colour before we setup the room. MUCH BETTER!
D. Final Bedroom shot

Some walls ended up with a total of 3 coats of paint, and the pink ones got 5 coats! But it looks good. We went with “Mochachino” and are happy with the results. As well, for the first while we’ll have the crib next to our bed and have baby with us.

Thanks for looking!

Bee Swarm!

by RadMan on Jun.24, 2010, under Picture

It was an eventful day yesterday. Apparently a bee hive was disturbed, and the queen decided to pit stop her brood in a tree located in our townhome complex.

It was quite the thing to witness. The hive temporarily swarmed ( just a few hours) while trying to find a new location (I guess) and by the evening they had disappeared, but not before grabbing our attention. The main swarm was so heavy that it actually broke a branch on the tree.

They were honey bees and as such not violent at all. We left them alone and they treated us likewise. Here’s a few shots…

A little day away…

by RadMan on Mar.21, 2010, under Picture

We had the chance to head out to the Vancouver Aquarium yesterday. The forecast was for sunshine but unfortunately that didn’t come to pass. We ended up with a high overcast layer of cloud. Still, we think we managed to get some nice shots.

Here are the shots that I think are the better ones in the lot.

By the way, that little Monkey is a BUGGER to photograph! I’ve tried 3 times now and I’m still not 100% satisfied with the shots I’m getting. He’s in a dimly lit cage, and won’t stop fidgeting! Oh well, one day I’ll beat the little bugger!

Damnit! Where’s my winter?!

by RadMan on Mar.18, 2010, under Picture

Well I’ve got to say I feel jipped! Every winter I enjoy the couple of days to week of snow. This year, NOTHING worth writing home about. No snow has even stayed on the ground in Langley! This is what we have seen in previous years:

I’d be nice to get a little reminder once a year that we are north of the 49th parallel.

Well, I guess not this year.

PS: In case you are wondering, the second shot was taken with a Pentax 12-24mm lens. It’s actually 2 shots that have been combined in Photoshop CS4. The “Photomerge” feature did a good job this time.
