Couple of shots with the Sigma Macro…

by RadMan on Nov.24, 2009, under Picture

… thought I would tool around a little with our Sigma Macro Lens (allowing me to get closer than usual). Just a couple of fun shots.

The one thing I WAS working on though was using the rear LCD screen’s “Live View” feature to try to do a far more precise job of focusing on the exact point I desired. Often, critical focus work requires a manual touch the AUTO just can’t compete with. Unfortunately, wearing glasses and having just generally poor eyesight, I have found that I have great difficulty through the optical viewfinder determining where the exact point of focus is.

SO… little effort and I feel I’ve managed to nail where the points of focus are:

The first are a couple of (seemingly) wooden statues that we have with a Thanksgiving theme. We got them at HomeSense (O_O – ya, I know…) of all places. We thought they were kind of neat as a table decoration.

The second is a collectible Disney statue which consists of a new Mickey looking at himself in a mirror and seeing the old Mickey. The effect is achieved by having two statues of Mickey (old and new) on opposite sides of a transparent plastic “mirror”. The effect works quite well and the piece is actually quite nice (even for someone that doesn’t have Disney fetish).

Ha Ha! More CAT pictures…

by RadMan on Sep.30, 2009, under Picture

… like it or not, I’ve got quite a backlog of these shots, so too bad! Here they come. This time, more of Siam and Patches.

Apparently cats are lazy creatures (kinda like me!) Siam was feeling the need to stretch, and while Patches was contemplating climbing up onto the roof, she had decided it wasn’t worth her while.

Lynn Canyon…

by RadMan on Sep.30, 2009, under Picture

… hidee ho!

Earlier this summer my friend John came down to visit, and we had the chance to go visit Lynn Canyon. It’s the FREE alternative to the Capilano suspension bridge, and it’s quite the nice site. These couple of shots are from one of the suspension bridges. The folks in the one shot were, well… where they weren’t supposed to be. Either way, I took what I thought seemed to be an interesting shot.

Sorry for the quiet time…

by RadMan on Sep.11, 2009, under Picture

… been kinda distracted of late.

Here’s a couple of shots that I took this part spring in Stanley Park. Chris and I were just walking around Stanley Park and were next to a pond not from the Vancouver Aquarium. I particularly like the second shot; it’s like the crow is looking back at me asking “What? What did I do?”.

Either way, here they are.

Thompson continued…

by RadMan on Aug.12, 2009, under Picture, Vacation

OK… So more on this Thompson trip I took in March.

Had a blast, and it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle and clear my mind some. Nothing will clear your mind better than a freakin’ freezin’ Canadian Winter. Actually, could have been a lot worse.

Here are a bunch of shots that I took (with a bunch more to come.) The gentleman that you see there that is not me is my best friend John. He’s big on SMART cars and apparently his wardrobe is brought to you by the colour BLUE. ;)

If you’re wondering about the wolf statues, you can learn more about them Please Login or Register to see the link.. Really neat to see actually.
